How to Do Standing Oblique Cable Crunch or Freemotion
The standing oblique cable crunch or freemotion should begin with good posture to avoid injury. Brace the spine by drawing your lower abdomen inward. Your core muscles should be activated to support your posture as you perform the exercise.
If any pain is experienced, immediately stop the standing oblique cable crunch or freemotion.
Beginning
Beginning Standing Oblique Cable Crunch
1. Attach a D-handle to the pulley machine and stand sideways to the weight stack to begin the exercise.
2. Begin the exercise by gripping the handle with an underhand grip and dragging it down until the palm is lined with the head and the elbow is pointed straight down.
3. Drag the pulley handle all the way down until your hand is between your nose and shoulder. Keep one hand on your hip and the other on your shoulder.
Movement
Standing Oblique Cable Crunch Movement
1. Face away from a freemotion or cable machine while holding a strap across the top of your body.
2. Stand up tall with your back straight, shoulders back, and chest out.
3. Bend forward while simultaneously twisting with your hips, to the opposite side of your body.
4. Don't let your back arch while you complete this movement.
5. Return to the starting position. Continue for repetitions.
